The Department of foreign languages has a rich and proud history, which began in 1959. Over the years of its existence, tens of thousands of students are taught English, French, German and Spanish. The Department is an integral part of the University. Teachers work at each full-time and extra-mural departments, at the faculty of post-graduate education, preparatory courses, at the school of the young specialist, intensive courses of foreign language.

Over the years of its existence, the teaching staff of the Department has significantly changed. Today it employs 26 teachers. They are all professionals, own methodology of teaching foreign languages, are able to transfer knowledge, to motivate students and to organize classes in the most interesting way. To meet the growing interest in the studying foreign languages among the students, post-graduate students and teachers of other Chairs, the teachers of the Department are in constant search of new and interesting forms of work.

Lecturers of the department  are constantly improving their professional level. Under the agreement on cooperation, internships are served at the departments of the English language for economic specialties, English for natural and humanitarian specialties, at the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology.

 Every year the lecturers of the department improve their qualifications, attending and actively participating in seminars and events organized by Brilliant Books, the British Council, the French Information Center, the Gete Institute.

     One of the main directions of the department, as well as the university, as a whole, is the implementation of the Bologna initiatives and the European education system.

As a part of the integration of higher education in European Higher Education Area, the department prepared  a concept for the development of the educational process of accounting for the requirements of modern society, which provides:

▪ usage of new, active forms and methods of teaching;

▪ creation of multimedia textbooks;

▪ active introduction of distance learning forms;

▪ restoration of audio-video-computer programs.

 It's no secret that a foreign language can not be taught, it can be learned. Favorable conditions are created for studying the language.

     The main goal of the teachers' work is the improvement of the quality of teaching and bringing  to international (European) standards.

The chair dreams of becoming a "legislator" and the creator of  such a school of foreign languages, that will drive away fear and uncertainty and create an atmosphere of joy and confidence that a foreign language is accessible to everyone.
